Since the founding of the Faculty of Music and Pedagogy of the Kryvyi Rih State Pedagogical Institute, the Department has not existed as a structural unit of the Institute. It was not until 1976 when a single Department was created at the Faculty, which united all professional disciplines. It was headed by acting Head of the Department Reshetnikova T.

In 1980, the Department of Music and Pedagogical Faculty of KSPI was distinguished into: Department of Theory, History of Music and Playing Musical Instruments and Department of Methods of Music Education, Vocal and Choir Conducting.

Nowadays the Department of Music Education, Vocal and Choir Conducting is headed by Candidate of Pedagogic Sciences, Associate Professor Liubar R.

There are 3 subject commissions working at the department: from vocal class (head - Candidate of Pedagogic Sciences, Associate Professor Kosiak L.), from choir conducting and choir class (head - Senior Lecturer Furdak T.), concertmasters (head - concertmaster Laduba O.).

The Department has some creative teams: National Chamber Choir ‟Kreshchendoˮ, Women’s Choir ‟Gloriaˮ, folk pop studio ‟Modernˮ, folk studio ‟Oberigˮ, folk studio of academic singing, vocal ensemble ‟Flash Girlsˮ - Laureates of All-Ukrainian and International Competitions.
