The Department of the English Language with Methods of Teaching was established in April, 2003. Presently the Department comprises 12 experienced lecturers including Candidate of Philological Sciences (PhD), Associate Professor – 7; Candidate of Philological Sciences (PhD), Senior Lecturer – 3; Lecturer – 2. The head of the Department is Iryna Salata Candidate of Philological Sciences (PhD), Associate Professor.
The Department trains teachers-to-be of the following specialities:
- 014 Secondary Education (Language and Literature (English)), additional speciality 014 Secondary Education (Language and Literature (German));
- 014 Secondary Education (Ukrainian Language and Literature), additional speciality 014 Secondary Education (Language and Literature (English));
- 013 Primary Education, additional speciality 014 Secondary Education (Language and Literature (English)).
Curricula of the Department focus on the fundamental disciplines in order to graduate high-qualified specialists in the philological and pedagogical professional field.
The members of the Department conduct research work, participate in All-Ukraine and International conferences in issues of philology and methods of teaching English.

Research subject is “The formation of the English language competence of a teacher-to-be in the process of studying a foreign language”. It is essential due to the study and implementation into practice the current linguistic and methodological scientific works and theories.
Teaching staff is in direct cooperation with various universities and research institutions abroad. The Department traditionally has strong cooperation with:
- international organization TESOL conferences and season schools;
- the US Peace Corps;
- the Fulbright Programme;
- Regional English Language Office, US Embassy Kyiv;
- University of Oregon, Eugene;
- Research centre “Ryan Research International”;
- Summer English Institute (Trinity Western University, Langley, British Columbia, Canada).
