At the department since 1994 there is postgraduate course. Fourteen postgraduate students received a PhD in Sociology (head – A. Lobanova).

Since 1991, academic staff of the department have initiated and conducted 16 scientific and practical conferences, in particular: international ‒ “Diagnosis and forecasting of socio-economic situations” (1992); “Information and energy technologies of adaptation processes of life activity at the beginning of the third millennium” (2001); All-Ukrainian ‒ “Youth Policy of Ukraine: State, Problems, Prospects” (2004); regional ‒ “Social life on the boundary of centuries” (2000), “Information society and Nature: vectors of mutual influence” (2014, 2016, 2017 and 2018).

There were published 9 monographs, 16 collections of scientific works, 26 scientific-methodical manuals, 5 textbooks, and about 450 scientific articles, abstracts.

The department cooperates with scientists of the Institute of Sociology of the NAS of Ukraine, a lot of secondary and higher educational institutions of Ukraine, with sociologists from Poland, Moldova.
