In 1983, the Department of Physical Geography and Geology, the second in history of the Pedagogical Institute, was created. It is the legal heir to the first Department of Geology and Geography.
Since 2012, the Department of Physical Geography and Geology has been renamed as the Department of Physical Geography, Regional Studies and Tourism, due to the fact that the specialization of the department became wider and included regional studies and tourism.
The Department of Physical Geography, Regional Studies and Tourism is headed by Candidate of Geographical Sciences, Associate Professor Kazakov Vladimir, who is a leading specialist in the field of tourism.
Academic staff of the Department of Physical Geography, Regional Studies and Tourism includes 8 Candidates of Geographic sciences, 2 Lecturers without an academic degree. The department has one of the leading positions in the university in terms of the qualitative characteristics of the personnel composition, scientific potential and the level of scientific and methodological work.
Since 2015, the Department has been operating the Scientific and Methodological Center for Tourism and Excursion, which provides training guides (trained 14 specialists); Excursion programs are being developed for the purpose of study and ecology for the students and school youth of Dnipropetrovsk region.
The Department of Physical Geography, Regional Studies and Tourism actively involves students in scientific activities. There are 2 scientific circles at the Department. Our students have repeatedly participated in the All-Ukrainian competitions of student scientific works.
Graduates of the Department are in demand among employers, most of them are working in tourist enterprises of the city, region, Kyiv and abroad.
