The team of Department of Fine Arts and Graphics of Faculty of Arts joined the international project – the Summer School of Urban Studies – in the period of July 5-16, 2021. The press center of KSPU learned the details.
The Summer School of Urban Studies is the second stage of joint interaction of international experts with youths from different higher educational institutions on the prospects of hometown development. The first such meeting took place last fall. Both stages were implemented with the support of city Mayor, Hanns Seidel Foundation (Germany), “Stiftung zur förderung des bauwesens” (Germany) and Institute of Kriviy Rih development.
The opening of this event was attended by the intellectual cohort of our city, among which was the Rector of KSPU Ya.V. Shramko. Yaroslav Vladyslavovych spoke about the Department of Fine Arts and Graphics of the Faculty of Arts and its importance for preparation of higher education students, who are willing to participate in the design and decoration of urban infrastructure.
Among the participants of Summer School of Urban Studies were students and lecturers of the Department of Fine Arts and Graphics A.P.Yemelova and A.A. Marchenko. The program of event is designed to constantly involve chosen representatives in active work on projects, creating presentations, summarizing the results of each day etc.
The student of the Faculty of Arts Anastasiia Nesterenko shared her thoughts (translated): “Impressions from the school are only positive: a friendly team, interesting tasks, the highest level of conditions. In general, we analyze the city here, create functional maps, on which we mark exemplary and problematic places, analyze ways to improve them. For example, the abandoned zone of old plantations can be turned into a beautiful park. I mean, this is a perfect experience even for designers, because we expand our worldview. During this time we learned a lot about our hometown, which will definitely be useful to us”.
The best indicator of success of such an event is the positive comments and impressions of its participants. Student Olena Brazhnikova noted (translated): “I am very pleased than I had the opportunity to participate in the Summer School of Urban Studies. Every day we received new knowledge and applied it in practice. The working atmosphere with students from different universities of Ukraine was pleasant. For two weeks we had been creating proposals for the solutions of Kryvyi Rih current problems, which can be used in urban projects. All processed were supervised by highly qualified specialists in the field of urban planning, who guided our activities”.
KSPU congratulates all participants of Summer School of Urban Studies and wishes success in the implementation of future projects!
